The Right Jewellery Makes Any Outfit or Occasion Better!

We wear jewellery to enhance our appearance, to make ourselves feel better. When you choose the right jewellery you will set off any outfit no matter what the occasion. The important words here, though are ‘right piece’.

Just as you would not wear a swimming costume to a wedding, so too, the best effect of jewellery comes when it fits your personality, outfit, and occasion.

Perhaps, making matters more complicated as that much of our jewellery is very personal. There might be emotional reasons to choose a particular item from your jewel box and not just the more practical issues.

In this article, I added my own opinions to some of the jewellery wearing experts around the All Diamond offices to put together a guide to help you choose the types of jewellery to accessorise any outfit and occasion.

Without a doubt, jewellery will enhance any outfit that you wear. The big question is which pieces will work better than others in your jewellery box.

Some jewellery is designed to make a statement, while others are more subtle. On some occasions, you want to look beautiful yet understated. Sometimes you want all eyes to be on you and the jewellery that you have chosen to wear. This distinction is probably the most important single consideration to make when making your decision about how to accessorise your look.

Jewellery At Work

Every workplace has a slightly different culture when it comes to dress and appearance. Of course, there are also practical considerations to make – you don’t want to be wearing a pendant necklace if you are working over machinery. Perhaps it is best not to wear a diamond ring if your hands will be dirty or wet.

On the whole, at work, it is probably best to stick to understated, simple jewellery that does not call too much attention to itself.

That does not mean that you can’t be stylish at the same time. A pretty watch is a practical accessory that can also be something of a feature.

Simple gold and silver jewellery such as ear studs rather than pendants. If you want to use colour check out art deco or art nouveau styles with their colourful gems and motifs. Choose colours that blend with your skin tone and outfit rather than looking bold and attention-seeking.

Job Interview Jewellery Choices

Job interviews tend to demand an outfit that is simple, business-like, and classic. Small diamond earrings or a short pearl necklace will look good paired with a dark suit. Think about a silver or white gold bracelet to contrast with the darker tones of your outfit.

The Right Jewellery For Casual Wear

Casual times are happy times with friends and family. This is an excellent time to choose items that you enjoy wearing, making you feel good about yourself. Now is a time for colourful, fun jewellery such as a pendant necklace set with your birthstone.

In the warmer weather, try bangles in warm gold or with colourful motifs.

During the winter, try wearing a brooch on jacket or scarf so that you can sparkle even when you’re in the cold outdoors.

Jewellery For Dinner Parties

Dinner parties can be your chance to indulge your tastes! You can have a simplistic, understated look or if you prefer to go bold, be extravagant. Some of my colleagues are fans of a little black dress that acts as a stage on which to display their jewellery – I cannot argue with that approach, it can look fantastic! Go for white gold or platinum to maximise the contrast between the white metal and black dress.

Choose for confidence, wear something new, if you like. Let your jewellery enhance your natural sparkle!

Formal dinner, gala, official event, or ball, all are events to choose classic styles. Diamonds and pearls are a great choice and can be worn with almost any style or colour outfit.

If you want to turn heads, go for a matching set of diamond or pearl earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Formal events are an excellent opportunity to wear antique jewellery. Choose well, and you will be asked about what you are wearing while impressing with your good taste.

Party Jewellery Ideas

Almost all of us like a good party! Unwind, meet old friends, and make new connections. Time to make a statement! Flashy is good – time to wear some sparkling pendant earrings, a very noticeable necklace, and a show-off ring.

While you do the talking, let your jewellery make the introductions!

Match Your Jewellery Colour To Your Outfit

If you are a fan of coloured precious metals and gemstones, this is for you!

You probably do not want to choose colours that clash with each other. Here is a technique that helps to blend the colours of your outfit with your jewellery. You can start with your preferred jewellery or the outfit that you want to wear.

If you are not confident about choosing colours, you can use a colour wheel to help you decide.

If you want to make a splash, to be noticed, then choose a complementary colour. Start with your first, or primary colour. Look at your colour wheel and see what is opposite on the wheel. For example, if you have a ruby necklace, your primary colour would be red, and the complementary colour would be green. A green dress and a ruby necklace would make an eye turning and lovely combination.

For a more subtle, but still beautiful effect choose colours of different shades of the same primary colour. For a more adventurous look choose adjacent colours on the colour wheel. So, if choosing red as the starting point, you might select purple or orange colours for the other parts of your outfit.

choose the right jewellery by getting the colour right!
