Tips on Buying a Bridal Jewellery Set

A bridal set is a set of two or more pieces of jewellery that are meant to be worn together. The set consists of an engagement ring and a wedding ring.

Bridal jewellery is also known as wedding jewellery or a bridal jewellery set.

In the past, the custom in Britain was to give a diamond engagement ring and then to buy a simple gold band, often without any adornment before the wedding.

In recent years there has been a growing trend toward buying an engagement and wedding ring at the same time and presenting the engagement ring at the time of the proposal. Alongside this trend is that many women now prefer to wear a wedding ring that is adorned with diamonds.

The All Diamond range of bridal sets brings both trends together with a range of bridal sets in white and yellow gold with a diamond wedding ring and beautiful engagement rings. The rings are designed and handcrafted in the UK to be worn together in perfect harmony.

When you buy your entire bridal jewellery set from one retailer or bridal jewellery designer, you will have a more consistent and complete look.  The bridal jewellery will match together because it was designed to be together.  What makes bridal jewellery sets even more special is after your big day, many times just wearing your matching engagement and wedding ring out for a nice dinner or dancing just seeing them sparkling on your finger can bring back all of the special moments and memories that you made on the most important day of your life.

Points To Look Out For Before You Buy A Diamond Bridal Set

There are quite a few wonderful tips that will come in very handy when you are buying a bridal jewellery set, and which will be a great help to you if you are out shopping for a bridal jewellery set.

These tips will be very assistive to you in the process of finding and buying just the right jewellery for this, your most special day.

About The Precious Metal Used To Make The Rings

The first thing that you are going to need to do is to determine what material or materials you would like to have your bridal jewellery set made out of. There are quite a few options, but gold, silver, and platinum are by far the most popular choices. At All Diamond, we currently offer only white and yellow gold because gold is by far the most popular choice for wedding and engagement rings.

The karat quality of gold will tell you the proportion of gold mixed with other metals. Therefore, the higher the karat, the more gold is used in the jewellery and the more valuable and expensive it will be. Most jewellery is marked with its karat quality; in the UK it is a legal requirement that it carries a hallmark.

Sold gold (24K) refers to any item that is made of pure gold, as long as the inside of the piece is not hollow. The proportion of gold in the pieces of jewellery is still determined by the karat mark. 24K gold is too soft for use in rings for that reason, all of our bridal sets use 18K gold which gives the best blend of durability and purity. The next step down is 14K which is less costly. Lower grades are generally reserved for lower grade fine jewellery and costume jewellery.

When it comes to silver, which is the second most popular chosen metal for a bridal jewellery set after gold, you need to know that the words silver or sterling silver describe jewellery containing 92.5% silver. Silver jewellery products may be marked with a 925 mark, which means that 925 parts per thousand of the metal are silver. We do not offer silver in our bridal sets even though it can look very good because it is not durable enough for a lifetime of daily wear and, if nothing else, who wants to wear jewellery that goes dull, tarnishes and needs frequent cleaning to look good?

Choose Your Precious Stones Wisely

Diamonds are extremely popular for use in a bridal jewellery set, and because they reflect light, they will help make you really stand out on your wedding day. As with other gems, diamond weight is usually stated in carats. Some diamonds are treated to improve their appearance but know that the diamonds that have been treated are usually less valuable because they have been tampered with. All Diamond only uses natural diamonds that have not been treated, if buying from any other retailer, always ask whether the diamonds have been treated because in the UK there is no legal requirement to label treated diamonds to set them apart from higher quality fully natural stones.

Then there are also imitation diamonds such as cubic zirconia, which closely resemble real diamonds but are not and so they will be of less value and therefore more affordable. Please do not give your future wife imitation diamonds, she will not thank you for it, especially if you do not tell her upfront and she finds out about the deception later on!

All these tips will come in very handy whenever you head out to buy not just jewellery for your wedding but for any occasion.

The pictures in this article show examples from our range of British designed and handcrafted bridal sets. As you can see, they look beautiful. Your fiancée will enjoy wearing the engagement ring until your wedding day and the matching wedding ring will complete the look and be worn with pride throughout your life together.
