All About Eternity Rings In 2022

Christmas is gone, and we are in the New Year, 2022. Let us hope that this coming year sees the world returning to normality! It has been a tough two years for all of us. One good thing that came out of the bad times was a new and strong relationship. I expect that I am not alone in this. The various social restrictions we lived through made us look at relationships differently. You may have valued your relationships differently, perhaps seeing that special person as more important and central to your life. That’s certainly what happened to me! This article is about buying Eternity rings in 2022.

Back To Eternity Rings!

I want to show my feelings for my girlfriend so that she can know and appreciate our connection for years to come. I will be giving her an Eternity ring, probably on Valentine’s Day.

Eternity Ring Q&As

Eternity rings are sometimes called Infinity rings because the ring symbolises a never-ending love, love that lasts into infinity. For purists, there is a difference between Infinity and Eternity rings. An infinity ring will incorporate the infinity symbol in the design.

An Eternity ring has diamonds, or sometimes other precious stones, set around the entire circumference of the ring. In the past, Eternity rings were only worn by women, but some men like to wear them these days. We would always recommend checking with your man before buying him one!

Sometimes people are uncertain as to the finger that a person should wear an Eternity ring. Typically, an Eternity ring is worn on the same finger as a wedding and engagement ring. This comes from an ancient Egyptian belief that a blood vessel ran directly from the ring finger to the heart – this was called the vein of love by many.

Another question about how to wear an Eternity ring is which order they should be placed upon the finger. Traditionally, the order goes wedding ring, engagement ring, Eternity ring, with the Eternity ring closest to the fingertip.

Although diamonds are the most popular gemstone used on Eternity rings, it is possible to use other precious stones in the design. We offer several different precious stones along with diamonds in our Eternity ring collection.

Eternity rings tend to be intricate in design and require highly skilled craftsmen to create them. Typically an Eternity ring will pass through the hands of several artisans, each concentrating upon a specific aspect of the manufacturing process.

Although Eternity rings are often given to celebrate a wedding anniversary, they can be given at any time. It is becoming popular to give an Eternity ring before engagement, with a similar meaning as the Promise ring often given in the United States.

Eternity rings have a very long history. The earliest known Eternity or Infinity rings go back to the days of the pharaohs in Egypt, some 400 years ago. Back then, Eternity rings were not made of precious metals and gemstones but from carved bone, beads and common metals. They were given by husbands to their wives as a love token.

In modern times, the Eternity ring was popularised by De Beers, the British diamond mining and marketing company, in the 1960s. The company had a surplus of diamonds and came up with the idea of reinventing and marketing the ancient custom using diamonds. One of their campaign slogans read as follows “She married you for richer or poorer. Let her know how it’s going”. Today, that slogan is memorable only for its cringe factor, but the sentiment might still be accurate!

Infinity and Eternity rings usually have diamonds and other precious stones around the entire surface of the ring. It is possible to buy rings with lower coverage. We offer rings called half Eternity rings with diamonds coverage of about 50% of the ring.

Most diamond rings can be resized relatively easily. Because a full Eternity ring has precious stones all around the circumference, they are difficult or impossible to resize, making the accurate measurement of the finger very important. If you are unsure about the size of the ring, look for a half Eternity ring. These rings have bare metal over about 50% of the circumference and can be resized the same way as any other ring.

Some men use an Eternity ring when proposing rather than an engagement ring. The reasoning is that it is easier to choose an Eternity ring than an engagement ring. I am not sure I agree with that thinking, but if your partner agrees, why not! The engagement ring is purchased together at some time after the wedding, often at the first anniversary.
